    This document contains the signatures of Jonathan Philbrick & his son Joseph Philbrick.  They were witnesses to the sale of land from Joseph Locke to Willard Maston.  Jonathan Philbrick signs both as Justice of the Peace and as a witness.  Of interesting note is the signature of Joseph Philbrick who signs, "Joseph Philbrick 3d".  Though Joseph is not actually the son of a "Joseph Jr." he is the third Joseph from Joseph Philbrick⁵ in his branch.  Joseph7's uncle, and brother of the Jonathan who signed the document, was also named Joseph.  Based upon this information, the location of Rye, NH and the known Jonathan & Joseph Philbricks living at that time, the P.P.F.A. is fairly certain we have identified the signers of this document correctly.
